for silly, foolish sheep

Updated: Feb 4

"If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders. When he arrives, he will call together his friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.’ Luke 15:4-6

I’m a silly sheep. I’m defenseless, I fall often, and I have absolutely no sense of direction. I get lost, and I will blindly follow other sheep. Sometimes I stay disgustingly dirty, and I hate to say it, but I tend to settle for less.

In a world saturated with noise and uncertainty, finding strength and guidance can be challenging. Despite our best efforts, feelings of being lost or overwhelmed are not uncommon. It is in these moments of vulnerability that we seek a beacon of hope, a safe haven to reconcile our faith with the struggles of mental health.

I’m a foolish sheep. But in my defenseless, my wandering away and getting lost, in my dirtiness and desire to settle for less, I have a shepherd. I have a shepherd who corrects me, on whom I can be completely dependent on and completely cared for. A shepherd who I have a deeply intimate and comprehensive relationship with. A shepherd who gives me more than I could ever imagine. A shepherd who calls me by my name and seeks me when I’m lost.

This is 'for the sheepish' a space for silly and foolish sheep, where Christianity and mental health intersect to bring light and healing to those in need. This space is to provide a nurturing community for individuals who are grappling with mental health challenges while leaning on their Christian faith. I hope to offer a fresh perspective on how Scripture can be a source of comfort and healing for those struggling with mental health challenges. By intertwining faith with practical wisdom, readers are encouraged to embrace their challenges with a renewed sense of hope and purpose.

So welcome to 'for the sheepish', where foolishness is welcomed, healing is found, and faith is strengthened. Together, let us walk this path of redemption and restoration, knowing that in our weakness, His strength is made perfect. Welcome home, lost sheep. Welcome to 'Sheepish.' I'm so glad you are here.
